You will first of all need to check that the wireless is set up on your TG582 router.  You can tell this by checking the “Wi-Fi” light on the router.  Different coloured lights indicate different types of configuration on the router.  These are:

• Green Light – Wireless is enabled using a WPA-PSK Encryption Type
• Amber Light – Wireless is enabled using a WEP Encryption Type
• Red Light – Wireless is enabled using No Encryption (Anyone within range can access your broadband)
• No Light – Wireless is disabled

If the router is broadcasting a wireless network as per your requirements, please follow the below relevant checks for your operating system to assist you with configuring your wireless network.

You can find your network name (SSSID) and wireless Pass key on a sticker located on the bottom of your router.

Windows XP

– You will first need to click on the “Start” button and then on the “Control Panel” icon as highlighted below.

– If the control panel does not automatically load in “Classic View” you will need to select this as shown below;

– You will then need to select “Network Connections” as shown below;

– On the next page all available network connections for that device will be displayed.  You will need to locate the “Wireless Network Connection” icon.

– If this is not showing as connected you will need to right click on his option and select “Enable”.
– By selecting “View Available Wireless Networks” you will be able to see any wireless networks that are in range.  By searching for the correct SSID (network name) you should be able to find the correct wireless network to connect to.

– Once the correct network has been identified click connect, depending on the security settings used when completing the Technicolor TG582 setup you may need to enter a password/ wireless key. (The default wireless network key is found on a sticker on the bottom of the router).

Windows Vista

– You will first need to click on the “Start” button (which is the Windows Logo) and then on the “Control Panel” icon as highlighted below.

– If the control panel does not automatically load in “Classic View” you will need to select this as shown below;

– You will then need to select “Network and Sharing Centre” as highlighted below;

– You will then need to select “Manage Network Connections” as shown below;

– You will then need to right click on “Wireless Network Connection” and ensure that “disable is displayed as per below”.

– You will then need to go back to the “Network and Sharing Centre” and select “”Manage wireless networks” as shown below.

– You will then need to right click on any unused wireless network connections and select to remove them.  This will also need to be done for any old versions of the network you are trying to connect to.  After this is done you will need to select “Add” to connect to the new network.

– You will then need to select “Add a network that is in range of this computer”.

– A list will then populate and once the correct network has been identified click connect, depending on the security settings used when completing the Technicolor TG582 setup you may need to enter a password/ wireless key. (The default wireless network key is found on a sticker on the bottom of the router).

Windows 7

You will first need to click on the “Start” button (which is the Windows Logo) and then on the “Control Panel” icon as highlighted below.

– If the control panel loads and is sorted by “Category” then you will need to change this to “Small Icons” by clicking on the drop down menu next to “View by:”.  You will then need to select “Network and Sharing Centre”;

– You will then need to select “Change Adapter Settings”;

– On the next page all available network connections for that device will be displayed.  You will need to locate the “Wireless Network Connection” icon.

– If this is not showing as connected you will need to right click on this option and select “Enable”.

– You will then need to select “Connect / Disconnect”.  This will then display all available wireless networks and you will need to locate the correct network.  Once this has been identified click connect, depending on the security settings used when completing the Technicolor TG582 setup you may need to enter a password/ wireless key. (The default wireless network key is found on a sticker on the bottom of the router).
