Moving Premises Help

Moving Premises

Moving to new premises can take a lot of organisation, from moving stock and stationary to ensuring minimal disruption to your customers. As a valued customer we want to help ensure your services with Unicom are the one thing you don’t have to worry about.

If there’s a working BT line in the new property, connecting your telephone services will be free of charge. However, where a line needs reconnecting there will be a charge of £35 plus VAT per line subject to survey. If a new standard line needs installing there will be a charge of £99.99 plus VAT per line subject to survey. Separate charges will apply if you require other line types to be installed, for example an ISDN.

Inform Unicom about your move

You can tell us about your move by signing up and logging in to Customer Zone and filling out our moving premises tool.

Once we have received this information our specialist Change of Address team can begin to plan how best to transfer your services and will call to confirm the details with you.

Important points to consider

We understand moving a business requires careful planning (we’ve done it ourselves!), below you will find some important points you should consider when planning a move.

Timing – Identify your moving date as soon as possible. Informing Unicom of your moving date as soon as possible will allow us to plan the transfer of your services. We may need that little bit of extra time if you require a new line to be installed, so the sooner you tell us, the smoother the move will be.

Update Stationary – When moving ensure your stationary is up to date with your new contact details. In many cases you will be able to keep your existing number, however your address will change. Have you considered a free 08 number from Unicom? If you’re updating your stationary now’s the perfect time to benefit from the many advantages they offer over a standard number.

Informing Customers and Suppliers – When moving your business it’s important to ensure all your current and potential customers and suppliers can locate and contact you. Use the move as a marketing tool to inform your contacts that you are moving on from your previous premises, inform them of the benefits this move will bring, and make sure they have updated contact details for your company. If you’ve taken advantage of a free 08 number from Unicom make sure customers are aware of this new number. If you have a website make sure the contact details are updated, place a map on your site so you’re easily located, and think about announcing your move to prospective customers via local papers or the trade press.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I take my current phone number with me?

If you are moving within your local telephone exchange area you should be able to take your existing number(s) with you. Note you can take 0800/0808 and 0845 numbers with you wherever you move in the UK.

I need a new phone line, how long will it take to install?

It normally takes us 10 working days to install a new phone line. However, we ask that you tell us about your move as soon as possible as some sites require special visits and can increase the time it takes to install your new line.

Will my existing Network Features be changed?

No, when moving your phone service we will transfer any Network Features you have to your new address.

If my number changes, can I pick my new number?

For an additional £40 we can provide a number selection service alongside the change of address. This will allow you to choose your new number from a list of available telephone numbers. Alternatively we are able to allocate you your own 08 number free of charge. This number can initially direct calls to your current telephone number and then be redirected to route calls to your new telephone number once you have moved.
