Friday 12th September 2014 - Unicom staff raise £4545.54 for cancer charities

Unicom members of staff have joined together to take part in two charity events. Ladies at Unicom took part in the ‘Race for Life 2014’ to raise money for Cancer Research UK, whilst the men went head to head in a football tournament to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

With the company’s extremely generous offer to match all the money raised, the grand total donated to these charities was an impressive £4,545.54.

The total amount raised for Cancer Research UK was £3,728.34 and £817.20 for Prostate Cancer UK.

Cancer Research’s Race for Life events are the UK’s largest woman only fundraising event. Each race sees women of all ages come together, dressed in pink, to run, jog or walk 5k or 10k distances in the hope of a cancer free future. Prostate Cancer UK began in 2012 and fights to help more men survive prostate cancer and enjoy a better quality of life through supporting men by providing information, finding answers by funding research and leading change to raise awareness and improve care. Both events were a great success, raising an outstanding amount of money for extremely important causes.
