Unicom employees celebrated completing apprenticeship qualifications at Damar Training’s annual awards evening, held at Stockport’s Masonic Hall.
Committed to its staff and the Investors in People standard, Unicom partnered with Damar Training 4 years ago, providing employees the opportunity to gain work based qualifications, developing their skills and increasing their overall career prospects.
Following another successful year of partnership, sixteen Unicom employees have completed an apprenticeship qualification through Damar Training this year.
To celebrate their achievements learners from around the North West were invited to attend Damar’s annual awards evening, held at Stockport’s Masonic Guild Hall. The celebration evening kicked off with a champagne reception, before attendees sat down to enjoy a presentation from Damar, including a big congratulations to all learners from Damar’s Managing Director, Jonathan Bourne.
Speaking to Jonathan at the event he said “I am immensely proud of the learners we’ve had from Unicom this year. I hope they enjoy the celebrations this evening.”
There were two guest speakers at the event. The first was Linda Stokes, from the National Apprenticeship Service, who spoke about the growing importance of apprenticeships in today’s market and thanked employers for seeing the potential in their staff and allowing them the opportunity to gain such achievements.
There was an endless round of applause as colleges congratulated learners on qualifications in Business Administration, Legal Administration, Contact Centre Operations, Customer Service, Team Leading and Management, with special awards being given out for Learner of the Year, Employer of the Year and Workplace supervisor of the year.
Last month Unicom’s Zieshan Faizan received Damar’s ‘Learner of the Month’ award, having been selected out of the 600 other apprentices Damar has on its books this is certainly something to be proud of.
Commenting on working with Damar, Unicom’s Head of Training and Development, Stacie King, said “Working with Damar has enabled us to offer our staff high quality vocational courses, motivating them to work hard in their daily jobs as well as giving them a greater sense of achievement within the company as a whole.”

The awards evening followed Unicom’s celebrations, after receiving confirmation it had maintained the Putting the Customer First®, Customer Service Excellence® and ISO 9001: 2008 standards.
