Unicom celebrates maintaining Carbon Trust Standard
Following further independent assessment Unicom have received confirmation that they have maintained the Carbon Trust Standard. This award is a mark of excellence which has been accredited to the company due to its continued efforts to measure, manage and most importantly, reduce carbon emissions.
Out of over 2 million UK businesses Unicom are part of a small number of just over 600 organisations that have been accredited with this award for not only meeting the strict criteria, but also for committing to continually drive down its carbon emissions year-on-year.
Unicom have sustained Carbon Trust Standard through the reduction of its carbon emissions whilst maintaining growth as an organisation. There is continual encouragement of the take up of paperless billing, with even more customers now receiving e-billing notifications and using the web based ‘Customer Zone’ to view the breakdown of invoices. Other actions taken as part of their reduction programme included, upgrading IT equipment such as printers to be more energy efficient, replacing water coolers saving 50% of energy previously used and investing in Dyson hand dryers within the office, reducing landfill waste by 100%.
