Friday, 20th July 2012 - Unicom graduates raise money for The Christie Charity

Unicom graduate managers Chris Bardwell-Doughty and Ryan Davies have raised a total of £912.00 for The Christie Charity as part of the annual graduate fundraising challenge.

Ryan raised money via sponsorship of a demanding cross country in the mountains above Valencia, and after returning from the Valencia commented “It was a tough personal challenge, but with an immense sense of reward at not only completing the cross country, but knowing that doing so has raised money for such a worthy cause.”

Chris raised money by organising and hosing a company pub quiz. Local businesses donated prizes for a raffle held on the night. After the successful evening Chris reflected: “People had been talking about the quiz for weeks and the response was excellent. As nerve wracking as organising and hosting the event was it was a thoroughly enjoyable night and a great way to build company morale and my own confidence.”

Charlotte McHale, Head of Training and Development at Unicom explained “A charity fundraising event allows graduates to demonstrate their ability to build relationships, be persuasive, speak publicly, market events and prove they can project manage effectively. As well as raising money for a worthy cause this task really pushes the graduates to demonstrate a range of skills. This year in particular has been a great success, with the graduates impressing in all of these areas”

Prizes were generously donated by: Verso Bar and Restaurant, The Farmers Arms, Withington Golf Club, Reserve Wine Merchants, and Jo’s Sandwich Shop.

Unicom are continuing to expand and will be running another graduate scheme in the future. There are also a number of non graduate positions available, for further information please see our recruitment section.
