Wednesday 29 May 2013 – Unicom Donates £500 to Rosehill Community Farm & Garden

Unicom has donated £500 through its Community Support Scheme to the Rosehill Community Farm and Garden, helping to support them in regenerating a disused allotment site and wasteland. The Rosehill Community Farm and Garden plans to turn the area into a much needed, environmentally friendly open access recreation, education and training facility for the community in the Sharston and Northenden area of Manchester. The project aims to improve the health and well being of the community, provide better access to education and training for improved employment prospects, and greater access to a much needed and attractive local environment especially for the disadvantaged within the community.

The donation of £500 has helped provide various fruit and soft trees which will be ready to plant this autumn. These are set to provide fruit over a long period in the season and give access to the community to low cost locally grown fresh produce.

In awarding the donation to the local project Chris Earle, Chief Executive Officer at Unicom commented – “The Unicom Community Support Scheme was set up for projects just like this as they help local communities in a variety of good ways and allow the company to help support these local communities in which we have a presence. The Rosehill Community Farm and Garden is a fantastic project that will be able to benefit form our support.”

Speaking on behalf on the Rosehill Community Farm and Garden Andy Dopson commented “We really are pleased that we were able to secure this funding through Unicom’s Community Support Scheme as it has helped us purchase a variety of fruit and soft trees that can be planted and will remain for years to come.”
