Thursday, 7th February 2013 - Unicom makes the call for Red Nose Day 2013

Unicom, the Manchester based telecoms company, today announced it has been selected as an official call centre for this year’s Red Nose Day for Comic Relief.

On Friday 15th March, Red Nose Day is hosting a celebrity filled night on BBC One and will be encouraging viewers to call the donation hotlines.

The Unicom call centre, based at the company’s headquarters in Northenden, South Manchester, will be an official call centre for the Manchester region and around 100 staff from across the business, including senior management, technicians and customer service staff, will give up their personal time to take thousands of donation calls. The phone lines will go live at 6.00pm and the team will continue to take donations until midnight.

The Unicom team will be fundraising throughout the day by organising a ‘Great British Bake Off’ style competition, a ‘bush tucker trial’ style challenge and a sing-a-thon.

We always try to support local and national causes, last year raising almost £20,000 in total. As a nominated call centre partner, taking phone donations from the public will mean that we can utilise the skill sets of our award winning customer service team to raise vital funds for Comic Relief.”
